Help for the Orphan
The Bible says that we should help the orphan. I know that most christians have heard this but still most do not help. It is stated a few places but the verse that I like most about this is found in James 1:27 “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.” We can all use a little help when it comes to Gods view of us. One of the best ways we can do this is to help raise the orphan. Do you have any idea how many there are? Some estimates put the number of orphans at 50 million while other estimates put the number as high as 200 million. Sadly the orphans are even abandoned by the statistics. God is the only one that really knows the number. I started wondering why he would allow so many children to loose their parents. Then it hit me, it is an opportunity for the rest of us to step up and do what we have been commanded to do. Jesus told us that the kingdom of heaven belongs to the children. If we adults want to get in we had better look after all these helpless children. I have asked others if they give to these Feed the children foundations and the answer is usually no. The reason they give is because they say the money never gets to them. It will be a sad day when God asks why you didn't help, and you answer him that way.
